"I am so grateful to you and inspired by your playing. It has been quite some time since I have been stunned by such exquisite musicianship."
— Harley Mead, composer and conductor
Performing
A flutist for nearly 30 years, Nicola completed a Master of Music degree in Australia before studying in London and New York courtesy of the Empire Theatre's Brian Boak Developing Performer Bursary and the USQ Joyce Campbell Lloyd Scholarship for overseas study. Nicola enjoys performing in a variety of styles, and regularly collaborates with classical music groups and independent artists, including guitarist Mathew Joseph and harpist Sharon Matheson as the Angelique Duo. Aside from the classics, her musical influences range from listening to her Dad’s old rock vinyls, Ian Anderson, Kenny G, and Yanni to gospel, jazz and blues.
Teaching
Nicola started teaching one of her high school classmates the flute and has been teaching ever since. With over 20 years teaching experience in tertiary, school and home studio settings, she is currently working on producing training materials for novice flute teachers and general music education under the new brand Fluted™.
